This is an exciting year for first graders. Our program is rooted in Scripture, faithful to the traditions of the Catholic Church, centers on the Person of Christ, invites relationship with the Holy Trinity, and supports the domestic and universal Church. This web site includes the chapter themes, key ideas, and key vocabulary words and their meaning.

We use the Sadlier "We Believe" program.

 

*  First Grade Companion Saints are St. Teresa of Calcutta (feast is September 5) and St. Francis of Assisi (feast is October 4).  We will learn about their lives during first grade.

 

*  According to our school website, first graders should know the following prayers: Sign of the Cross, Prayer Before Meals, Our Father (The Lord’s Prayer), and the Hail Mary. New prayers introduced this year include: Grace After a Meal, Glory Be, Morning Prayer, and Angel of God.

Chapter 27: Easter

This is an exciting year for the second graders, because they are preparing to receive two sacraments. We will begin the year by studying sacraments and celebrations. Then we will begin to study the sacraments more closely as we prepare for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. We also will be learning about the parts of the Mass.  This year, the second graders will be given tests over what is taught in Religion class. It is very important that the students listen closely to the new learning. This web site will include the chapter themes, key ideas, and key vocabulary words and their meaning.
