On Mondays students will take a pretest with a partner or using an iPad. Students will then correct their own work and hand in the pretest. They will print their words in their agenda and highlight the words they missed on the pretest. These are the words they should study at home and during specified times at school. Students will take the post test on Fridays. The spelling post test will be returned to students on Mondays with their pretest attached. All students will the same spelling words. These words include six pattern words, six vocabulary words and four content words.
The expectation is for students to improve their pretest score by at least five points. If students continually are not meeting expectations, the student and the teacher will sit down and set goals, so the student can achieve expectations.
